Fishing Report

Truckee River Fishing Report:
Pick and choose your spots. Water is very low through town and fishing for trout stuck in puddles is not sporty. There are however still plenty of sections of river with healthy flows and willing fish. All tactics apply. Arlo's clients have been catching fish on nymphs, dries and streamers. BWO hatches have been occurring in the early afternoons, and  the usual assortment of crayfish, small whitefish,  stones, caddis, mayflies, and midges are present subsurface. Brown trout are on the spawn, be sure to respect their procreating habits. Leave spawning trout alone, and be sure not to wade over potentially egg rich redds.
Be clean, be courteous, be respectful.

Pyramid Lake:
Pyramid Lake has been fishing great! Stripping chub or beetle patterns on sinking lines has been productive. Nymphing routines are also catching fish. This is a great time of year to explore different beaches around the Lake since fish are scattered throughout.
Stock up on some heavy tippets (1X 2X 3X) and proven flies (Patriot Midges, Pyramid Brassies, Marabou Midges, Bunny Strippers, diving beetles, wooly worms) and go give yourself a chance at a 20 plus lb. cutthroat.
