Water temps are cool, there are good flows in sections of the Truckee River ... might as well fish! The Fall bite has actually been pretty spectacular if you know where to go. The last couple weeks have provided several memorable brown trout. Nymphs, dries and streamers have all played a role in recent catches.
It's always a great time to learn the sport of Fly Fishing! Arlo is a talented instructor with over 13 years of hands on experience teaching clients how to cast, read water, find fish, present flies, identify bugs, etc. Bring your fly fishing skills to the next level with Arlo's Fly Fishing.
Early season advantage is with the boaters. PLPT reports over 80 % of fish caught have been from boats the past few weeks. Most fish found in 30' or deeper water. Shore bite has been a little spotty. Cooler weather will drop shoal water temps and will bring fish closer.
Best bet to find abrupt dropoff beaches to make accessing deeper water easier. Should find more fish available to shore anglers come November. Bunny Strippers, Wooly Worms, Chub Patterns have ben productive flies.
Beginners Welcome!! Arlo loves to teach, and a half day guide trip with Arlo is the best way to introduce yourself to the sport and learn the local waters around Reno. Let Arlo know if a customized "learning" trip is what is needed. All gear provided.
