The Truckee River originates out of Lake Tahoe, CA at Tahoe City. It flows Northeast into Nevada, eventually terminating into Pyramid Lake. Total extent of river flow is approximately 115 miles. Brown trout, rainbow trout, whitefish, and carp all inhabit the Truckee River. It is a freestone stream with a vast and complex supply of aquatic insects. Arlo loves river bugs and loves teaching the entomology of the Truckee River to his clients. The more we understand bugs, the better we fish them. There are some great dry fly opportunities on the Truckee through isolated times of the year, but most fish are fooled with nymph and streamer tactics. The Truckee is a challenging river, but its rewards are big.
